چکیده

Method Randomized selection of 100 patients, underwent aortic valve replacement with a single type of bio-prosthesis (Medtronic Mosaic) for pure aortic stenosis. The study population showed that, 25/100 (25%) patients had prosthesis-patient mismatch of a moderate degree (indexed effective orifice area (IEOA) from 0.65 cm2/m2 0.85 cm2/m2). The effect of prosthesis-patient mismatch on the postoperative echocardiographic findings mainly the regression of left ventricular mass after aortic valve replacement and follow up comparison of the unmatched group with the matched group in addition to the other possible related factors through the multivariate analysis was studied.

Left ventricular mass regression may occur very early following transcatheter aortic valve implantation for severe aortic stenosis

Background The effect of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) on left ventricular remodelling early following valve implantation has not previously been evaluated using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). Early left ventricular mass (LVM) regression (assessed using echocardiography) has been linked to a 50% reduction in rehospitalisation in the first year following TAVR. We sought to es...

Left ventricular function before and following aortic valve replacement.

Twenty-four patients with aortic valve disease were studied before and 19+/-12 months following valve replacement with a well functioning prosthesis. Biplane left ventricular angiography and pressures were utilized to determine end-diastolic volume/m2 (EDV), end-systolic volume/m2 (ESV), ejection fraction (EF), left ventricular mass/m2 (LVM) and stroke work (SW). There were nine patients with a...

Severe aortic stenosis without left ventricular hypertrophy: prevalence, predictors, and short-term follow up after aortic valve replacement.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of the present study in patients with severe aortic stenosis was to assess the prevalence of absent left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) (determined according to mass criteria), to identify predictors of absent LVH, and to assess short-term left ventricular adaptation and prognosis after aortic valve replacement. METHODS Left ventricular mass (LVM) was determined by echoc...

Indexed effective orifice area after mechanical aortic valve replacement does not affect left ventricular mass regression in elderly.

OBJECTIVE After aortic valve replacement, the effects of a small functional prosthesis on the extent and pattern of regression of left ventricular hypertrophy and on clinical outcomes may be less significant in older patients with low cardiac output requirements. The objective of this study was therefore to determine whether patient-prosthesis mismatch affects left ventricular mass regression i...

Aortic Valve Replacement for Aortic Stenosis and Concomitant Coronary Artery Bypass: Long-term Outcomes and Predictors of Mortality

BACKGROUND We evaluated the surgical results and predictors of long-term survival in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) at the time of an aortic valve replacement (AVR) due to aortic stenosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between January 1990 and December 2009, 183 consecutive patients underwent CABG and concomitant aortic valve replacement for aortic stenosis. The mean fo...
